Hi Michael, you're at tournaments in China right now, so I'm very glad you took the time to answer a few questions. I'm sure it will please all readers and especially snooker fans because you belong to very popular players. You came among professionals in 1996. So, could you tell me, please:

How old were you when you started playing snooker?
I have pictures of me playing when I was 5/6 year old! I started playing on a full sizeable regularly when I was 12, thats when I started to be more serious and try and improve.

Who was your big model?
Steve Davis was my snooker hero. They say never meet your hero because they might disappoint you, fortunately for me Steve is a fantastic guy!

What do you consider to be your biggest success?
My biggest successes are my PTC victories. I've own 2 up to now which is ok but really feel my best successes are in the future...

Have you got any unforgettable matches in your memory?
There's a few good and bad matches I'll never forget. As a snooker player sometimes your most hurtful defeats can be the most memorable.
As for positive memories it has to be my first PTC win in Prague. I was on a terrible run of results and my father was in hospital for a massive stroke so it was a difficult time for me and my family. Prague was the last PTC and I had to win it to get in the PTC grand finals and before I left I promised my father I would win it for him.
When I got to Prague I had a terrible draw full of top seeds and I had to beat Maguire, Selby, Murphy and then beat John Higgins in the final 4-3!! Taking the trophy back to my father in hospital put a huge smile on his face. :)

How do you relax? What are your hobbies?
I probably need to learn to relax more, I'm always busy!! Away from snooker Im passionate about health and fitness and love spending time at the gym.

How do you keep fit? Have you got a personal trainer? Who is it?
I love all kinds of training, especially lifting weights. Its a great stress reliever. I did a basic qualification in personal training 8/9 years ago and have learned a lot reading books and the internet.

Who is your best friend?
I have a few very close best friends.

Who influences you the most? Who supports you in your decision-making?
My closest best friends.

What would you like to achieve during this season?
To win a major ranking event. I've proved myself at every other level, hopefully break through as soon as possible...

What are your plans for the future?
To achieve my snooker goals in the next few years, away from the table I am currently doing a business degree for when I finish playing.

Where do you like travelling? Can you describe your perfect holiday?
I LOVE travelling! Im so lucky to have been to so many different places. I don't really have favourite holiday because it depends what kind of holiday I want. Thailand is a perfect relaxing holiday with its beautiful beaches, I love seeing new cities, I have recently visited Barcelona which was brilliant. I also LOVE Ibiza, its such a beautiful island and the clubs are the best in the world.

How long would you like to play?
Until I'm not good enough to compete.

Have you got a favourite quotation?
"Water cuts through rock not because of its power, but its persistence."

Michael, thank you very much for this interview and good luck in the new snooker season.

I am delighted that Michael Holt is the first person in my upcoming interviews with celebrities. Michael was born in Nottingham, he is 35 years old and he is known under the nickname the "Hitman". He belongs to emotional players. At the beginning of this season Michael belonged to 22 place of world ranking. His greatest achievement was the semifinals of Shanghai Masters in 2013.

Michael visited Prague in November 2010, when he attended the Prague Classic here within the Players Tour Championship, which he won. He beat John Higgins in the final 4-3. Michael added the second victory a year later at the Players Tour Championship 10, when he beat Dominic Dale 4-2. Last week he got to the final of the first Asian Tour in Yixing with Ding Junhui.

As a bonus, here I am attaching my short video of the PTC in Prague in 2010. I hope that it will delight you and Michael, too. :-)
